The slideshow documentation here, showing Krzysztof Jung’s graduation project, features a naked man who is tied to a chair, trapped in a cocoon of cotton rope in which the artist has entangled him and from which he attempts to break free. The “threading” of naked bodies in Jung’s art signals emotional connections both autobiographical and homoerotic in nature. These connections are occasionally coded, as seen in the depiction of figures such as St. Sebastian and Narcissus. In tying and binding people and objects together in his performances, Jung alluded to their reciprocal relationships and mutual malleability. G.N.G.
