“Pyxis Systematis Quid Video Dicitur” is a documentation of the artists’ trip to Vienna in order to hand over a VHS cassette for an exhibition at mumok. During the journey, everyone speaks only Latin. This work alludes clearly to the road movie genre. The overall goal is established at the very beginning: the artists need to deliver their work from point A to point B. On the way, they stop in small towns and visit bars and restaurants. The title of the video is self-referential—it is the Latin translation of the VHS format’s full name. The delivery of the artwork then becomes the center of the piece. This video focuses on the dream of a new, united Europe. The usage of Latin in all of the places visited by the artists can also be viewed as an allusion to the unity of Central Europe, understood as a political and cultural concept distinct from both West and East.
