The video essays represent a passion for archives and an exploration of utopias in the period after the end of modernism and postmodernism within the environment of the ex-communist state. Political texts such as the Communist Manifesto, as well as numerous avant-garde programs and literary texts of interwar avant-garde artists such as Karel Teige, Karel Honzík and Josef Hiršal, are subjected to a new reading. These texts are contained in Baladrán’s fragmentary scripts, persuading the viewer that a fragmented perception of reality can offer us new possibilities of interpretation. J.S.
