In 1967, Július Koller abandoned the traditional medium of oil painting and began to work with new materials and white latex paint. An entire series of painted objects emerged, entitled “Painting Game” (Antihappening), and he followed on from those in 1968 with the two series “Subjectobject” and "Reality." For the works such as “Subjectobject”(Planet) Koller chose white latex, a synthetic acrylic paint, which he used as a universal anti-color with metaphysical energy. Koller characterized these works in which he emphasized the most fundamental energies of materials, processes and signs, as a stage after the “zero condition of painting.” In parallel he produced latex paintings à la pop art with elements of advertising and comics and with themes from tourism, sport, and science fiction.
