/21
On 25 October 2024, the new building of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw (Muzeum Sztuki Nowoczesnej w Warszawie/MSN Warsaw) at the center of town was officially inaugurated. American architect Thomas Phifer’s design, selected from an international field of competition entries, will henceforth characterize the institution, which was founded in 2005. On display were selected works from the museum’s collection by artists such as Alina Szapocznikow, Magdalena Abakanowicz, Monika Sosnowska, Cecilia Vicuña, and Sandra Mujinga. The inaugural exhibition was joined by concerts and performances as well as by all-night film screenings in the museum’s new cinema. The opening event offered a foretaste of the first showing of the MSN Warsaw collection, planned to open on 21 February 2025.
Kontakt continued its long-term institutional partnership with the MSN Warsaw by presenting reenactments of dematerialized works during the initial days on which the building was open to the public. This project served to foreshadow the next steps in the collaboration between Kontakt and the MSN Warsaw, which will be realized in the form of exhibitions and loans starting in 2025.
