Oscar Bronner
Oscar Bronner, Vienna, 18 October 2022
“As a child, I had no idea what ‘Jew’ was.”
“I’ve always been fascinated by the phenomenon of the twist in art.” It’s as a sculptor that Oscar Bronner returned to working as an artist after many years (“I work in series as a matter of principle.”). Against this backdrop, the founder of the magazines “trend” and “profil” and the newspaper “Der Standard” reveals facets of his life and life’s work with which many people may not be so familiar: Bronner recalls his childhood in Israel and Vienna, early instances of repression, encounters with Kurt Moldovan and Fritz Wotruba, the pleasant feeling of being a nobody in New York’s art scene, and just what ultimately eased his renewed withdraw from the media business.
In cooperation with the Austrian daily newspaper “Der Standard”, this Kontakt Video Portrait was published on their website www.derstandard.at on 7 April 2024.
