Foto-Aktionen mit Cora Pongracz und Chris Althaler
/9
Georg Decristel joined together with photo artist Cora Pongracz to mount a photo-action, and Pongracz—to whose conceptual basis the performative alternation between the photographer [herself] and the one portrayed was essential—turned out to be a congenial partner for him. In their six-part photo action, Decristel presents the Jew’s harp in terms of its formal congruency with the anatomy of the human face: the round shape corresponds to the mouth and the oral cavity, while the instrument’s overall symmetry corresponds to that of the eyes, nose and mouth. The artist serves not only as the “resonance chamber,” here, but also enters into a reflexive, “mirror image” type of relationship with the musical instrument. S.E.
