"J’ai perdu la fin" is a series of black and white photographs which depict Edward Krasiński engaged in an open-ended process of entangling (or tangling) a long, jumbled piece of rope. The work relates to sculptural experiments of Krasiński which towards the end of the 1960s led to a series of "Linear sculptures," and were followed by the introduction of the now iconic blue Scotch tape which Krasiński used since 1968 as a common denominator for most of his installations and interventions. The state of "being lost" or "loosing ends" was an ironically assumed critical pose of the artist whose work was an ongoing celebration of undoing the fixed modes of art-making. A.S.
