Stanisław Filko Transcendencja I.–II. 1978–1979, Mała Galeria PSP-ZPAF, Warsaw
/6
Stano Filkos manifesto “Transcendency” was first published in 1978 and ultimately included in the catalogue produced for his next exhibition, in March 1979 at Galeria gn ZPAF in Gdańsk. Once again, integrated alongside the manifesto was a chronology of the artist’s work and illustrations of current works on display in the gallery. These were based mainly on photographs from his own private archive, ranging from childhood photos to documentation of current activities. He enlarged them and almost always obscured his own person with white paint. A text by art historian Grzegorz Sztabiński was included to round out the catalogue. With help from Sztabiński, Leszek Brogowski, and Marek Grygiel, Filko was able to continue expanding his network in Poland. He took part in the Plein air Festival in Słupsk (1979) as well as in the Plein air Symposium in Osieki (1980). 1980 saw Filko exhibit further “Transcendency” works at the Mała Galeria PSP−ZPAF in Warsaw. The catalogue for that exhibition included the manifesto-text “Transcendention (Oversensuality)” from 1979 by Filko as well as an extensive illustrated section showing his latest output. L.G.
