The drama of mass migration and the lack of clear strategies for solving this problem clash with the vision of a better-managed future. Considering what a delicate system democracy is, the threat to democracy posed by migration is even greater. Gazing from the top of the hill at the Parthenon towering over Athens and at the endless crowd of refugees huddling in its shadow, I begin to think of the stories of travelers fleeing to a new land. This journey occurs under a tent and with ‘my’ car. Beginning with Le Corbusier’s idea of comparing the Parthenon to a machine, ascribing the same value to antiquity and the industrial present, I wandered through these fields of reflect, trying to say something through this series of seven paintings.
