One of Ivan Kožarić’s most significant public space projects that have been realized was “Grounded Sun” in 1971. The gold-colored fiberglass sphere was placed on the Marshal Tito Square in front of the National Theater in Zagreb. In 2002, Kožarić made a smaller version of the sculpture in wood, which attests to his established practice of returning to and re-appropriating his earlier works, and belongs to a broader series of his works that deal with the motif of the sun.
