The video “Albanian Stories” was shot after Adrian Paci had left his home country Albania for Italy in 1997. In the video, he is recording his at that time three-year-old daughter telling a series of stories in an improvised manner. It is one of his first video works dealing with the notion of exile and the need to adapt to a new living situation. Although the stories have a fairytale-like character with protagonists such as a cow, a cock, a pig, or a cat, they repeatedly talk about the dark forces and the migration to Italy. Hence, the personal is mirrored through the words of an innocent child having to cope with a new chapter of life. W.S.
