This work consists of a fruit picking tool with a crinkled one-dollar bill. Here, Anne Marie Jehle plays with the dichotomy between what is attributed to men and women in a social context. The fruit picker is associated with gardening and cooking, which are traditionally considered domestic women’s work. Money, on the other hand, is predominantly earned by men and figures centrally into the outward representation of their status. Jehle thus addresses the fine line between what is hidden and what shown, thereby putting an ironic twist on the notion of “harvesting money.” W.S.
