Following the official conclusion of the experimental pedagogical programme at the Timișoara Art High School in 1974, the members of Sigma Group—Ștefan Bertalan, Constantin Flondor, Doru Tulcan, and Ioan Gaita—took advantage of the summer workshops conducted with students to continue their work and expand upon their research and pedagogical methods. Transforming nature in “open-air studios for observations, interventions, and actions,” as Flondor recalls, new topics emerged. At Guranhonț, the last in a series of summer workshops constructed around particular themes (with the theme of this workshop being “Me-Earth-Sky”), students were involved in the process of investigating the phenomenological aspects of nature. The relationship between individual, earth, and sky is noted in a Leonardo-like manner, with the students elaborating on subjective diagrams of perception and actions focused on the possibilities of seeing the space (its depth, semantics, dynamics).
