Garden

The work “Garden” alludes to the impossibility of describing nature in its own right, as there exist natural laws that human beings find hard to fathom. To this end, Lois Weinberger proceeded in a way similar to how children play with Plasticine in order to harness language and descriptive elements. For the work itself, he fired clay letters and placed them in a plastic tub. The letters were then treated with algae in order to involve a spontaneous process of vegetation that would eventually get out of control. In an exhibition context, the small container made of yellow plastic is placed on a white wooden table and filled with water to make the letters appear blurry, which poses questions as to their essence and the vegetative process that they incorporate.
