The departure point for the abstract animated film “EI335721443JP” is a Japanese book from the late 17th Century, “Yuzen Hiinagata” (1688), a four-volume work of patterns for kimonos in the collection of the Tenri Central Library in Japan. The graphic forms of the book’s illustrations have been simplified and newly sequenced so that the typology of the fragmented forms remains evident. During the projection, the forms occur as emerging line drawings, which at the moment of their completion then disappear. The film is divided into several chapters, titled following their respective classification reference numbers in the Tenri Central Library.
