There is an undeniable connection between Jiří Valoch’s texts and his conceptual poetry. In his discursive texts (often focused on monochromatic themes, minimalism and geometric art), a “structure” embodies a frequently used term combined with contrasting words, oppositions, and an interest in relationships between individual components of a given work. In Valoch’s theoretical texts, repetition is often used as part of an analytical approach in which the same things are described from various perspectives. And in his conceptual poetry, the principle of repetition is significant in the context of textual tautology. To Valoch, the repetition of certain word sequences is akin to minimal music. The value of Valoch’s works is tangible in the way in which it turns to substantial phenomena of our usage of language and points to the elementary components of language that are overlooked in casual everyday use.
