Transformation Always Takes Time And Energy.
/2
The difference between change and transformation is that change does not exist. There is only transformation, which is overloaded and overexposed by our expectations, our dreams and even the necessities of everyday life. The title and the work itself “sound” like an absurd mix between a textbook example of a law of physics and a naïve political appeal for social patience. On a different level, this work is related to an idea. It is about “restituting” the “individual rights” and the “ownership” of the readymade objects back to themselves. Artists owe this to such “pre-pared” objects following nearly a century during which they have been deprived of their own contexts, having been used in ways far removed from the purposes for which they were produced. In keeping with these considerations, the installation consists simply in the slow boiling of water in home-used cooking pots and teapots; these are placed on small electric hotplates, and the overall setup consumes both time and energy. All pots used in this work have been borrowed from various friends and relatives. P.I.
