Throughout his versatile practice, the artist made frequent use of watercolor painting—sometimes in his figurative studies for biotechnospheres and cities of the future but also as abstract, free-flowing expression that took the shape of cosmic and geological formations. In the 1980s, Fedir Tetyanych developed a multifaceted collage technique that combined sketches, newspaper clippings, and his monochromatic watercolors. This enabled the artist to achieve a vivid painterly effect. In his collage depicting a water sports competition, watercolors fill the composition’s upper segment and make a decisive entry into the center with twisted currents and strong colors. By way of this striking fusion, he achieved a powerful visual dynamic that illustrates the ongoing struggle between human and natural elements. N.Si.
