Sketch for Architectural and Artistic Design of Kyiv, Planetarium (Fragment of the City of Future)
/3
This work belongs to a series of preparatory sketches that Fedir Tetyanych conceived as a visualization of the Kyiv Planetarium building’s future decoration. Though his design was to go unrealized due to financial constraints, it encompasses some of the most important elements of this artist’s philosophy. In particular, it refers to his concept of the biotechnosphere—an autonomous unit for shelter, energy storage, and transportation. Tetyanych produced numerous drawings and watercolors in which he imagined their future implementation, and he also installed actual models of them in the public realm—such as by incorporating them into his state-commissioned monumentalist works. In his planetarium design, the singularity of one biotechnosphere is transformed into a rhizomatic structure thanks to the “ludoprovid,” or human pipelines. This unrealized design alludes to some of his earlier monumentalist works, including the “Entrance to Peremoga Village” and the “Entrance to the Railway Depot in Popasna, Luhansk Oblast.” N.Si.
