VALIE EXPORT drives in 1970 to Breitenbrunn with her 16mm camera in tow in order to witness the creation of the Land Art sculptures "Sitzgruben" ("Seating Pits") by her artist colleague Walter Pichler. EXPORT captures on film Pichler's interventions in the form of rectangular hollows in the earth, documenting the dialogue between sculpture, architecture and nature. She also films the property belonging to Peter Noever where Pichler realizes his sculptures. The land is set amidst a quarry, vineyards and a wine cellar, and will continue to undergo constant transformation during the decades following EXPORT's film as numerous additional sculptural and architectural interventions are carried out in the context of the "Grube" ("Pit") project.
