This short 16mm film is one of the earliest works in which VALIE EXPORT explores her own body using film. The concentration on the organ of sight, which the camera focuses in on as single body part, demonstrates how central the question of how images come about was to EXPORT's work as early as the 1960s. In the ensuing decades, she repeatedly investigated in her films, texts and photographic works the wide-branching family of visual representations, reflecting various media on graphic, optical, perceptual, intellectual and linguistic images.
