Little Warsaw
Little Warsaw, the Hungarian artist duo of András Gálik and Bálint Havas, working together since 1999, create situations that are realized as a consequence of context displacements of cultural entities. An object, often a work of art is taken out of its original site and placed into a different place where the commentary and unexpected reactions become definitive part of the project. In their artistic practice they analyze the relation to the tradition of artistic production, in which traditional sculpture and monument play a central role. In the case of the Body of Nefertiti in the Hungarian Pavilion
at the 2003 Venice Biennale, the artists presented a body made of bronze for the famous Egyptian Queen's head and matched the two objects as a temporary action. D.H.
