16 pages
From the end of the 1960s, the field of artist’s books interested Jiří Valoch not only as an artist but also as a theoretician who helped shape and define this field of art in Czechoslovakia. It was in particular Valoch who established the term “author’s book” as an equivalent of “artist’s book” in the Czech context, doing so in response to a request by his friend J. H. Kocman, a conceptual creator of such “author’s books” and book-objects. This catalog includes a reproduction of Valoch’s concept “Fragment” for a book that does not exist, a concept that he finished with help from Ivan Chatrný in 1970. J.P.
